Future Life: Energy

Energy

The world is in the middle of a desperate energy crisis.

Our traditional sources of power are running out.

The oil and natural gas that run our modern world will vanish long before the end of the century.

And the earth's once vast reserves of coal will dwindle to virtually nothing by the end of the following century. Even while they last these old-fashioned sources of energy - fossil fuels - cause huge problems of their own. For they are the biggest cause of man-made global warming on the planet. Already experts have been trying other, cleaner ways of producing energy. They include wave and tidal power, the wind, solar energy and nuclear power.

The problem is that they too have their drawbacks.
