Industrial placements

You may have the opportunity to gain industrial experience during your degree and many universities offer sandwich courses in which students spend up to a year gaining experience within the process industries.

Industrial experience is generally of two types:

    • vacation placements - these are generally 6-12 weeks in length and usually involve working on small projects
    • extended placements - these vary in length from 6 months to a year and can offer the opportunity to work on a more extensive project in industry

These placements can be found by contacting companies directly with a covering email/letter and CV.

Many universities will offer you assistance in securing an industrial placement. Contact the Admissions Tutor to find out more.

Industrial placement opportunities are not restricted to the UK and may involve spending time at a company abroad.
