The carbon footprint of cane sugar is low with 0.43 tonnes of CO2 generated per tonne of sugar produced. We produce a range of white sugars, brown sugars, syrups, liquid sugars and treacles on the site, both bulk and packed.
What made you apply for a job at Tate & Lyle?
I applied to Tate & Lyle for various reasons. Firstly because of the very hands on, practical and flexible nature of the graduate engineering training scheme which gives real responsibility early on and the tools to develop and shape your own career path. Secondly, I liked that it was such a global company which has since given me the opportunity to travel and work abroad. Thirdly, at the same time as being an international company, it remains a local company in terms of caring for the community through the various activities they do to support the local community.
Is there the option for variety in your job?
There is plenty of variety in my job, from doing office based design, calculations and analytical work to investigations out in the field and hands on process commissioning. From looking at longer term projects to overseeing day-to-day activities, from focusing on technical engineering solutions to being involved in new product development, the depth and range of the job is endless.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy my job because everyday is different. Every day is a new challenge, or a new problem to solve or a new opportunity to develop, learn and expand my skills base. I know that what I am doing with work makes a difference to the company, and that is what drives and motivates me.
