BEng or MEng?
BEng or MEng?
Chemical Engineering degree courses are offered at two levels:
- The 3 year BEng degree gives graduates a sound education in core Chemical Engineering subjects and a skills base that employers demand.
- The 4 year MEng degree enables students to become an expert in Chemical Engineering science with a greater depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding.
Both degrees are a sound basis for a career in the Chemical Engineering industry and most universities offer a choice of BEng and MEng programmes.
Both courses provide a pathway to becoming a Chartered Chemical Engineer, which is considered a benchmark within the profession.
Applicants who have completed a MEng accredited degree will only need appropriate work experience to satisfy the entry requirements for Chartership. Those offering a BEng accredited degree will need to undertake a period of additional study as well as the appropriate work experience.
Before making their choice students are advised to check that their course is accredited for registration as a Chartered Chemical Engineer – Chemical Engineering department Admissions Tutors can provide further guidance.
