whynotchemeng, IChemE's schools and careers campaign, encourages students in the UK and Ireland to consider a career in chemical engineering.

Since its launch in 2001, applications to chemical engineering degree courses have quadrupled and there is now a record number of students studying the subject at university.

The campaign is built around three core areas:

1. Careers literature and classroom resources

We're in contact with 4,500 secondary schools to promote our careers literature, classroom resources and volunteer network.

2. School visits and careers talks

IChemE members can volunteer to attend careers fairs and student talks at local schools to showcase the varied career paths and benefits on offer to chemical engineering graduates

3. whynotchemeng.com

Attracts on average 3,700 unique users a month to discover all things chemical engineering: what chemical engineering is, study informationcase studies and links to universities and employers.
