Industrial placements

Students may undertake an industry-related project in their final year of study. There are also opportunities to gain industrial experience during your university course in which students spend up to a year in industry and gain experience of working as a chemical engineer.

Industrial experience is always highly regarded by employers and so you should take every opportunity that is available.

Industrial experience is generally of two types:

  • Vacations placements - these are generally 6-12 weeks in length and usually involve working on small projects
  • Extended placements - These vary in length from 6 months to a year and can offer the opportunity to work on a more extensive project in industry

Many university departments will offer you assistance in securing an industrial placement. Contact the university admissions enquiries to find out more.

Industrial placement opportunities are not restricted to Australia and may involve an industrial placement in Asia, Europe, the UK or the US for example.
